Executive Communications Intern

June - September 2018 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

Everything! Mentorship opportunities, intern events, and really structured program!

What I wish was different

Nothing!

Advice

The return offer process isn't like some other companies where people intern from SCU. Be aware that even if you work well with your team, there isn't always space for intern conversion! Still a really positive experience, just something to keep in mind.

Technology Consulting Intern

May - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Everyone at Adobe is incredibly nice and helpful. I was one of the youngest ones in the office but everyone was open to talking to me and readily available to help me learn. Each intern had a mentor and a manager, and both of mine were awesome. I met with each of them at least once a week. There were also a ton of perks given to the interns as if we were regular employees, as well as company parties and vacations that we benefited from.

What I wish was different

This was the inaugural year for my specific internship role, so there were times when I wasn't extremely busy.

Advice

Don't be afraid to strike a conversation with your mentor, manager, or anyone in the office. Adobe has a ton of unique acronyms and job titles and while they can be hard to keep track of, learning what each of them are is valuable in understanding the way the org works.

QE Developer Intern

May - August 2018 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

I liked learning a new aspect of Computer Science. I was able to explore DevOps and Test Automation programming.

What I wish was different

I wish I could've worked on the daily tasks of the team, to feel closer to them, but I still appreciate the learning experience and diving head first into a problem.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, but remember that the team has their normal work / work schedule. Sometimes you might need to first check if you can interrupt someone to ask your question.

Marketing Specialist Intern

June - August 2018 • Lehi, UT

What I liked

I loved working autonomously with guided mentorship in a marketing role. I worked with massive Fortune 20 customers and ran a campaign that had over $11mm quantifiable impact. Adobe also does so much for their employees. I had Adobe-paid volunteer opportunities each week, fantastic Adobe-sponsored events (baseball games, Utah Olympic Park, mountain biking) with other interns from around the country and world, and I was able to network with brilliant leaders in the digital marketing technology industry.

What I wish was different

Advice

Be relentless. You have to network and network and network when applying. Ask people you know within Adobe if they know the team you are applying for and ask them if they can introduce you to the manager. They don't hire outside their core schools unless under special circumstance.

I was treated like a real employee at Adobe. I got to edit and write website content that was published on Adobe.com by the end of my summer, as well as lead and organize meetings. Adobe is a software company dedicated to the fusion between arts and science and I felt that every day I came to work.

Financial Analyst Intern

June - September 2017 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

I liked the community and the benefits it offered (like gym, free lunches, etc) and I also liked that I got a lot of hands on experience instead of just shadowing someone.

What I wish was different

I think the program itself was great, but I should’ve taken more advantage of the seminars and events there. There’s a lot packed into a short amount of time.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask too many questions, but know when to ask them. I really appreciated that they understood this was a learning process for me, but asking a question every 5 minutes slows down meetings and productivity. Save up the questions for a specific time unless it’s imperative to your understanding of the conversation.

Account Development Manager

January 2017 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Learning about Digital Marketing, interacting with customers, working in an awesome culture with really intelligent hard working people.

What I wish was different

There's a lot of changes all the time and many of which is out of your control. Sales is tough and turnover can be high. None of this is bad per say you just have to 've able to adapt and keep your head on the end goal. So nothing really I wished was different, more so just unexpected to a degree.

Advice

So I did the internship a year ago at Adobe. I've been full time there now for 10 months. Here's my advice if you do an internship in sales. Work your butt off. You're not there to party and be a college kid. Act professional at all times, define what you want your brand to be before you go, write it down. Stick to that brand so when people think of you, they think of something positive- hardworking, dedicated, gets the work done when they say they will, etc. Next, learn as much as you can, study, read, record your calls with customers, role play, do everything you can to learn your products and craft your skills. After this, network, network, network. Show up and BLOW UP. If people don't know who you are, then you won't be remembered. You need to have the mindset that you are #1 and others see you as a memorable strong candidate for the job. Get to know your managers, coworkers, and others in company. You need to stand out. How? Do more than expected. Don't wait to be told what to do. Take initiative. Don't ever say, "I don't have anything to do." There's always more to learn, study, help others with, innovate. Be very organized, write down your goals of what you want to learn and accomplish by end of the summer. Then work your way backwards and define what you need to do every week and day to get there. Also, speak up in meetings. Have an opinion. Show your passion. Moreover, be a team player. Help all your colleagues get better. They will in turn help you as well. Be a shark, but still humble. I know this says "one piece" of advice, but if you want to be a winner- give more than you take. So lastly, GIVE! Be a winner, make a decision to be great, take massive action, be consistent, and commit all the way! BOOM GO KILL THAT INTERNSHIP!
