Program Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Greensboro, NC

What I liked

I liked that I got to go to various universities and speak to students about their financial opportunities with Wells Fargo.

What I wish was different

I wish that I didn't have to travel as much to different cities. I would have appreciated it if my manager was more organized. I didn't like spending a lot of one on one time with my manager. I didn't have many tasks to do and that became frustrating.

Advice

Never to go into a job with really high expectations if you didn't ask questions specifically to your daily activities.

Wealth and Investment Management Operations Intern

June - August 2023 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

I enjoyed the experience to work for a big company, and it was my first career-related job, so it was very different than my usual part time jobs or summer jobs. The first week of the internship they flew us all to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and we got to network and meet other interns from all over the US who would be interning in different locations.

What I wish was different

I wish I had started working more at the beginning of the internship, as I felt like I was shadowing more the first half and then actually doing work the second half and I could have been utilized more by my team.

Advice

Do not try to imagine what it will be like before you start the internship because it will probably be very different than you imagined, so go in with an open mind and no expectations. No matter whether you like the work or not, you will learn and at least get to experience working a corporate job.

It was an extremely challenging and rewarding experience. I was pushed harder than any of my prior internships and allowed me to develop both my hard and soft skills.

What I wish was different

Some of the other interns in my group were difficult to work with, but it was a minor factor.

I liked the pay. The managers and other workers were easy to get along with. Everyone is extremely polite.

What I wish was different

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is to utilize their resources. They have so many departments that give financial advice on how to boost credit, starting a retirement plan, and growing your savings. They also have resources available for volunteer opportunities and scholarships.
