School Certifying Official

Overview of Position

The School Certifying Official (SCO) will support veteran students, their eligible dependents and Career Advisors throughout the pre-enrollment and enrollment process. This includes guiding the student through the process of applying for VA benefits, receiving BAH (basic housing allowance) and ensuring the school is provided all required documents and forms. The SCO is required to complete new and ongoing VA training in order to maintain SCO status. In addition, the SCO will be responsible for conducting the annual VA Compliance Survey onsite at the campus.  The SCO will certify veteran enrollment and ensure they meet all eligibility requirements to continue to receive VA benefits.

Expectations

  • Provide excellent support to veterans across the student lifecycle, including preparing students to start class, check-ins during class, attendance checks, missed work completion, and provide other veteran related support.
  • Understand the different types of educational benefits available to veterans and their eligible dependents
  • Obtain SCO (School Certifying Official) status with Veterans Administration
  • Certify veterans using the VA Enrollment Manager
  • Term veterans at end of program completion
  • Maintain accurate veteran student tracking
  • Ensure compliance with 85/15 rule
  • Attend required SCO workshops and training
  • Serve as compliance officer during school site visits
  • Posses a high level of understanding of the school, programs, placement services and able to communicate effectively with veteran candidates
  • Familiar with the school's Course Catalogs and Enrollment Agreements
  • Shall not misrepresent the nature of the school, facility, programs, expected outcomes of training. salary expectations, etc. in any way, either directly or indirectly, implied or by omission
  • Other tasks as may be assigned to support the schools objectives and students

Administrative Expectations

  • Use database tools to effectively track and manage interaction and progress of candidates and students
  • Maintain an accurate log of call activity, call outcome and follow-up objectives
  • Utilize AirCall for call activity
  • Proficiency withApple products, Microsoft Office

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous military experience desired
  • Proficiency with technology platforms and tools (Google Drive and Docs, etc.)
  • High level of initiative and desire to work in a dynamic environment
  • Exhibit a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
  • Strong presentation skills - verbal and written
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage and complete multiple projects on time
  • Perform a wide range of tasks as needed and directed
  • Demonstrate ability to be proactive, exercise independent judgment and demonstrate ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Linkedin - portray yourself and the company accurately

Position Requirements

  • Primary customer contact is via telephone
  • Follow-up on emails, texts and phone calls within 24 hours
  • Accurately maintain and share your Google Calendar accordingly
  • Highly motivated with ability and desire to support veteran students
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem solving ability
  • Part-Time office based - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • 4 hours per day
  • Position located in Denver, Colorado

$25/hour
