About the Position:
Under the direction of the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans (Transportation Management Center Branch Chief), the Transportation Engineer (Civil) serves as the Transportation Management Center (TMC) Operations Engineer performing a broad range of professional transportation engineering work. The incumbent independently applies engineering judgment in monitoring and managing real-time traffic operations and providing technical guidance to TMC staff in the use of advanced transportation systems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of California’s state highways. Key job responsibilities also include performing traffic engineering analysis, developing or assisting in the development or maintenance of standard operating procedures, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, supporting traffic operations, and performing other related duties.
