The Board of Pardons and Paroles

The State of Connecticut's Board of Pardons and Paroles is an autonomous state agency with administrative support provided by the Department of Correction. The Board possesses discretionary authority to grant pardons for criminal convictions and to grant parole to eligible and appropriate offenders as a means of supporting their successful reintegration into law abiding society.

The Board of Pardons and Paroles is an integral part of the legal system and plays a crucial role in Connecticut's criminal justice policy. The Board's work is driven by moral and ethical responsibility to do our part in making Connecticut a great place to live and work.

Your Role

The Board of Pardons and Paroles is currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Legislative and Administrative Advisor 2 to assist in matters pertaining to legislation, regulations and administrative policy. This position will also assist with agency communications and public relations. The successful candidate will conduct research and draft any necessary correspondence.

As a Legislative and Administrative Advisor 2 for the BoPP, you will:

  • Interpret and advise the Executive Team on complex and legislative issues;
  • Have oversight of legislative matters pertaining to the Board during regular and special sessions of the Connecticut General Assembly;
  • Track bills and communications with legislators and the Governor's office;
  • Have responsibility for litigation for the Board including interacting and litigation support with the Attorney General's office;
  • Respond to subpoenas and summonses;
  • Have oversight of Freedom of Information litigation;
  • Act as designated Ethics liaison;
  • Write and revise policies;
  • Supervise a Paralegal Specialist.
