DMED Technology Data Quality Analyst Intern - Summer 2021 (Remote)
The Data/QA Analyst will work within the Data Platform and will be asked to deliver actionable data insights from Disney’s large and diverse set of first and third party data sources. This data will come from every aspect of the user journey and product experience - ad-sales, programming, and finance. The team supports the Business Intelligence products that are provided to different business units within the company to aid on making better business decisions. You will be tasked with ensuring data presented and used for reports and dashboards for analysis is correct and meet the required calculations and transformations. Furthermore, the data retrieved from different sources are flowing properly and transformed correctly based on the business requirement.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in sprint planning and scrum meetings, as well as other team meetings to understand each product deliverable.
- Write validation scripts, creates test cases and execute them for data quality checks.
- Analyze test results to find out root causes and work with developers to find solution.
- Submit bug tickets for defects found and follow through until a resolution is tested and passed.
- Investigate a different approach to automating data quality checks.
- Understands complex source systems in order to recreate different scenarios for testing and analysis.
- Participates in ensuring that assigned projects adhere to agreed-upon functional specification and applicable testing standards.
- Uses ingenuity in applying analytical techniques and organizational skills to identifying and evaluating alternatives and to developing recommended approaches to resolving issues with ongoing process improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience using SQL to query data
- Experience using Python to write test scripts to help with automation
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing, ELT, and Business Intelligence concepts
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of AWS or other cloud technologies
- Experience using Snowflake
- Knowledge of BI reporting tools (Business Objects, Microstrategy)
