DMED Technology Network Engineer Intern-Remote, Summer 2021


Job Summary:

Comprised of Disney’s international media businesses and the Company’s various streaming services, the Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) segment aligns technology, media distribution, and advertising sales into a single business segment to create and deliver personalized entertainment experiences to consumers around the world. Playing an important role in the growth and future of DMED and The Walt Disney Company, the Technology team helps drive the strategic development and deployment of technology at the Walt Disney Company. It creates products, platforms and innovations for Disney’s portfolio of brands and businesses, while building scalable systems that connect hundreds of millions of consumers to Disney’s beloved stories, characters and brands.

As a member of the Global Network Services organization, the Network Engineer Intern will help deploy, scale, and automate the enterprise and production networks in a dynamic, fast-paced, technologically advanced broadcast and content distribution environment.

The organization is tasked with improving workflow efficiency through the use of innovative technological solutions. Our partners demand the highest quality and reliability for their services. Our industry is evolving at a tremendous rate and it is our responsibility to maintain quality and reliability while developing innovative ways to automate the scaling of our network. As a result, we are transitioning to a service-provider model to include 10G, 40G and 100G Ethernet capabilities. Automation is an important component of driving efficiency and the team is responsible for conceiving, developing and deploying tools to support our network infrastructure.

As a Network Engineer Intern, you will participate in the engineering and implementation of network solutions to meet the needs of the business. You will work closely with our Network Architects and internal partners.

Responsibilities:

A Day in the Life...
  • Configure and support multi-vendor, multi-protocol enterprise and production networks
  • Maintain routing/switching configuration consistency throughout the network infrastructure
  • Manage and maintain network monitoring and analysis tools
  • Document and maintain accurate configuration information and infrastructure documentation of all networking components and dependencies.
  • Work with our Network Architects, executing and implementing highly available, high-performance network infrastructure

Basic Qualifications:

What we are looking for...
  • Experience in the technology operations role with demonstrated training and interest in supporting routing and switching configuration efforts
  • Knowledge and experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically, BGP and OSPF
  • Experience scripting with Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell, C or C++
  • Able to provide respectful and courteous customer service often under tight deadlines and in high pressure situations
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and time management skills
