SUMMER 2021 INTERNSHIP--Skills to Succeed Summer Intern (Virtual)

Skills to Succeed (S2S) equips deprived and at-risk adolescents and youth with the skills and job linkages they need to find decent jobs or build their own businesses and break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. S2S offers employability, entrepreneurship and vocational training, on-the-job training, career counselling and mentoring, business start-up services, and job linkages to young women and men aged 15-24. Additionally, the program provides social-emotional learning (SEL) and digital skills programs to very young adolescents (VYAs) ages 8-14. Since 2011, S2S has served more than 155,000 youth living in urban and peri-urban communities in Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Italy, Philippines, Vietnam and Mexico.
The Skills to Succeed program is in the Youth Integrated Economic Opportunities (YIEO) business line within the Department of Hunger and Livelihoods, which implements programs to ensure that young people successfully transition to positive adulthood through access to integrated economic opportunities to get decent work, to continue education, to live healthy lifestyles and to be civically engaged.
What You’ll be Doing (Essential Duties & Responsibilities) 
  • Write a summary of key findings of Gender and Power Analysis research studies for 5 countries (Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Italy and Mexico)
  • Develop a framework for capturing learnings from sponsorship pilot in Bangladesh and Factories Summer Program in China
  • Clean and analyze program end line and EA (Employability Assessment) Tool data
  • Create country infographics
  • Create 1-pagers summaries of research and learning activities
  • Support the global Learning for Action study, including reviewing program documents, conducting qualitative interviews/focus groups, analyzing data, and writing reports
  • Support other MEAL and Research activities, as needed
Knowledge Sharing and Thought Leadership
  • Support the redesign and development of Skills to Succeeds online knowledge management platform and website
  • Develop written briefs about key program interventions, such as: Learnings from interventions with youth in factories (Vietnam), Learning For Action Indonesia – workplace improvements for youth with disabilities and Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality BecaXR App (Vietnam)
  • Conduct a literature review on best practices for programs to train youth in factories
  • Research corporate/foundations donors that fund programs for people with disabilities
  • Write and edit content for S2S newsletter, as needed
  • Review and update list of S2S program external stakeholders
Required Qualifications 
  • Must be an actively enrolled Associate, Bachelor, Master or other post high school education program, or have graduated within 6 months of program start date
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English,
  • Demonstrate collaborative interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully within a team
  • Professional proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • Familiarity and experience with data analysis using Excel, Stata or similar statistical analysis software
  • Experience with Google-suite (particularly Google site), web design, and/or database management
  • Background/interest in youth development, soft skills, social-emotional skills, gender, and international development
  • Previous experience working in development context and a second language, especially Spanish, Mandarin, Indonesian, Italian, Vietnamese, Bengali, are pluses.
