DESCRIPTION
The Interim Director of Parent Education coordinates all aspects of the Bellevue College (BC) Parent Education program. Bellevue College Parent Education provides parent-child classes and cooperative preschools online and in Bellevue, Carnation, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Renton, Sammamish, and Snoqualmie, WA.

The Interim Director guides program vision, oversees fiscal management, and supervises and supports needs of adjunct faculty in the program. The Director provides professional development, health and safety requirements and financial support to all faculty members.

The Interim Director will work with Academic Affairs, Division Leadership, Parent Education faculty, and seek community input to develop a new vision and structure for Parent Education.

This is a full-time interim position with expected end date on June 30, 2022. Continuation of this position beyond 06/30/2022 is based upon funding and department needs.

COMPREHENSIVE WAGE AND BENEFIT PACKAGEAnnual salary range begins at $65,000 and will be commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. The Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute is composed of fourteen unique programs which address critical workforce needs in the region and nation. Each program focuses on providing education and training for professions in healthcare, education, and wellness. Our main office is located on the Bellevue College main campus in T208, with the exception of the Wellness Center located in G100.

POSITION DUTIES
Personnel management - Supervise adjunct faculty

• Review applicant credentials, conduct interviews, and hire adjunct faculty.
• Plan, assign and review work of adjunct faculty.
• Evaluate employee performance per negotiated agreement and prepare performance appraisals.
• Assess need for faculty professional development.
• Provide or arrange for faculty professional development.
• Support and counsel faculty to resolve work-related issues.
• Provide support to faculty on career development.
• Supervise training of faculty in risk management to ensure insurance requirements are met at all lab sites.
• Ensure compliance with college requirements, instructional needs, lab teacher requirements, state insurance requirements and student needs.
• Recognize faculty for their accomplishments.

Fiscal management

• Oversee budget, ensure fiscal compliance.
• Oversee personnel actions forms (PAF) and stipends (STPND) to ensure faculty are paid each quarter.
• Manage program budget, which includes faculty payroll and benefits, educational supplies, community marketing costs, travel, and professional development expenses.
• Oversee and work with financial specialist faculty to ensure that cooperative lab class personnel are trained in how to pay teacher lab salaries, keep accurate ledger of financial transactions, pay required state and federal taxes, file necessary forms for 501C3 federal non-profit status and state non-profit status.
• Conduct twice-yearly reviews of financial treasures or assures that reviews are completed by other trained personnel.
• Develops and oversees budget and funding from community partnerships and other sources.
• Oversees and tracks scholarships funded through Parents Advisory Committee (PAC), which is administered through the Bellevue College Foundation.

Program Leadership & Administration

• Represent program at Washington State Organization for Parenting Education Programs (OPEP)
• Represent program in division and college.
• Develop annual program objectives in alignment with division, unit and college objectives
• Conduct program review.
• Assess course and program objectives.
• Serve as ex-officio member of Program Advisory Committee.

Other

• Develop annual marketing plan.
• Promote program through community outreach at events and fairs, offering sample classes, speaking at events.
• Create and disseminate marketing materials - brochures, bookmarks, flyers.
• Market program through digital media.
• Establishes community partnerships and ensures that requirements of Parent Education program are met, per partnership agreements.
• Teach one parent education class in fall, winter and spring quarters.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Education, Early Childhood Education, Counseling or Psychology, or equivalent combination of educational and work experience can be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Teaching experience, preferably in early learning and/or parent education.
• Experience as teaching faculty or director in Washington State's Parenting Education programs
• Program and/or curriculum development experience.
• Experience working with faculty.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with wide range of audiences, i.e., parents and other caregivers, children, vendors, colleagues.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and a commitment to cultural pluralism.
