You will be part of a global team of ~220 dedicated legal and compliance professionals who share a passion and enthusiasm to both understand and successfully navigate every aspect of VMware’s fast-growing business. The Legal team delivers world class legal services to our clients in a timely, efficient, and ethical manner and provides innovative and strategic solutions that actively contribute to the success of VMware.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
- You will be involved in a wide range of privacy-related matters and contributing to our ongoing mission to provide pragmatic, scalable privacy solutions that inspire customer and employee trust.
- As a member of the VMware Privacy team, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Privacy team in conducting privacy reviews.
- Supporting the maintenance of a global data privacy program and compliance standards working in close collaboration with the wider stakeholder teams.
- Assisting the Privacy team to provide guidance, support and leadership on privacy and data protection legislation globally, including the GDPR.
- Collaborating with and supporting other lawyers with respect to legal forms, agreements, policies, and notices in order to protect commercial and legal position in relation to data privacy requirements.
- Supporting critical incident management processes in addressing data privacy and security incidents.
- Assisting with training and education to the Legal team, management and employees relating to data privacy and protection, including key legal issues, laws and regulations, corporate policies, and other relevant matters.
- You will work alongside team members with many years of practice both in law firm and in-house environments, each of whom has had unique and varied experiences in the career journeys.

Where is this role located?
This role is fully remote and can be performed anywhere in the US.

This position is available to currently enrolled Juris Doctorate-level students only, with a degree possession of May 2023 or later. The internship will be a 12-week, full-time commitment during Summer 2022.
