Description

Under the supervision of the Manager of Information Technology, the Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for assisting in the oversight of operations of the IT Department, including providing for the maintenance of all computer hardware and software systems within the health center and implementing projects in accordance with the health center’s strategic direction.

Representative Duties
  1. Assists in the administrative planning and management of the IT Department
  • Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software
  • Maintain site licenses for department/organization
  • Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability
  • Document network problems and resolutions for future reference
  • Provides Network management (security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support)
  • Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications (Varonis, Mimecast, Sophos and Barracuda)
  • Rolls out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources
  • Leads team in network upgrades (Nutanix, ESXI Hosts, Cyber Security)
  • Plans, implements, and supports internal connections, point to point communication, and external resources for Fenway staff.
  • Assist the IT Manager to provide and/or coordinate IT training
2. Provides technical expertise in the repair, maintenance and development of Fenway Health’s Information Systems and intra- and extra-agency computer network systems
  • Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions
  • Perform and/or oversee software and application development, installation, and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties
  • Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures
  • Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards
  • Responsible for having all network servers and related applications available to staff during agreed upon hours
  • Manages medium-large scale projects affecting all Fenway Locations and staff.
3. Security planning and administration
  • Assist IT Manager with planning, implementation, and management of security measures for Fenway infrastructure.
  • Performs audits and testing of network disaster recovery.
  • Monitors security appliances and takes appropriate action for system alerts or malicious behavior on the Fenway network.
  • Prepare and review monthly security reports, apply the necessary patches and firmware needed to reduce security vulnerabilities.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting in regards to IT Security vulnerabilities, phishing, ransomware, malware and insider threats
4. Meets agency participatory expectation
  • Adheres to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
  • Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
  • Adheres to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality
  • Adheres to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation
  • Attends all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
  • Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities
  • Serves on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested
5. Performs related duties as required

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited School of Computer or Information Science
  • 5-7 years of experience with a variety of network topologies
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with 0365 Administration, relational databases, Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of Virtual ESXI Hosts, VMware, servers and desktop products
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of VPN Tunnels and Citrix remote users
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to administer a 1,000+ node network, including firewalls
  • Demonstrated ability to support Print Server administration
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of dialpad, mobile devices, various communication protocols
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of QOS via phone / internet based communications
  • Strong working knowledge of Firewalls, Switches, Routers, Expansion and cabling
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • 1-2 years in the healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors and visitors to facility
  • Experience working with an ethnically, culturally and racially diverse work staff preferred;
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Sit at a computer station for extended periods of time
  • Regularly walk, stand, stoop, climb, kneel and crouch
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently, and occasionally objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
