Head Start Pre K Counts Teacher

Capital Area Head Start is seeking full time Pre K Counts Teachers to join our mission in providing a comprehensive child development program designed to give children a head start in life, empowering parents and strengthening families. Pre K Counts Teachers work with an inclusive team to deliver a high quality, curriculum-based educational program for children ages 3-5. Responsibilities include developing and implementing lesson and individualized service plans, approaching child development through family engagement and community partnerships, ensuring the health and safety of children, and maintaining outcomes while promoting progress in accordance with Head Start standards. 

Position Details:

  • $50,000 per year, may increase based on education and/or experience
  • Salaried, Exempt Position: Standard biweekly salary paid throughout the entire year, including summer months
  • Work hours are between 7:30AM and 4:30PM based on assigned center; Schedule is based on the school year and does not require work during the summer months 
  • Positions available in Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry counties

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid PA teaching certificate in early childhood education
  • Experience working with young children
  • Intermediate computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and learn web based systems
  • Valid driver’s license and access to properly insured vehicle, or public transportation
  • Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in early childhood education or related field
  • Bi/multi – lingual
  • Participation in Head Start or Early Head Start

National Head Start Performance Standards require that all Head Start employees be fully Covid-19 vaccinated. Any employee accepting a position with Capital Area Head Start will be required to provide proof of vaccination or submit and have approved a Medical or Religious Accommodation prior to hire. Employees with an approved accommodation will be required to test weekly for COVID-19. Testing is provided at no cost to the employee.
