Information Technology Intern (Summer 2023 - Cybersecurity)

The Information Technology Intern will report to the Cybersecurity Manager and work with other IT team members in person in our Cincinnati, OH office. Start and end dates are flexible and tailored to your school schedule. Hopeful application timeline: application will be open until November 4th with interviews taking place in November and a final decision made early December.

Phillips Edison’s operating platform provides retail services including acquisition, redevelopment, leasing and management of grocery-anchored retail centers.


What you’ll do:

  • Monitors security events to identify anomalies and possible incidents within the network
  • Performs historical analysis of logs associated with security events
  • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity technologies/security operations to include perform research and analysis of tools and procedures
  • Conduct Cybersecurity training, briefings, presentations for multiple levels of business
  • Participate in documenting and publishing security related workflows and procedures to mitigate vulnerabilities and recommend changes to system or system components
  • Ensure compliance with corporate cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Support the implementation of network and computer security.
  • Implement software fixes (patches) to remove system vulnerabilities.
  • Perform security assessments of applications and systems using penetration and vulnerability testing and risk analysis.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network and endpoint cybersecurity tools.
  • Review security logs and analyze alerts for indications of compromise.
  • Investigate intrusion incidents and conducts forensic investigations.
  • Respond immediately to cybersecurity-related incidents and provides a thorough post-event analysis.
  • Research and identify cybersecurity trends and best practices.


What you’ll learn:

Throughout the internship term this role provides the student with the following:
  • Learn the IT process and systems used within the IT department
  • Learn or further develop the process of documenting work performed on projects and communicating effectively with supervisors and company personnel
  • Further develop skills required to interact with other professionals at varying levels of the company
  • Further develop time management skills and the ability to be responsible for more than one project at a time


What we’re looking for:

  • A current university student enrolled in a degree seeking program studying Computer Science, Information Systems or another business-related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Ability to work independently, with direction and guidance, and on a team (as needed)
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to balance multiple priorities at once
