Under limited direction, plans, develops and administers, through subordinates, the delivery of early childhood education, as part of the Early Head Start at multiple locations; provide oversight and compliance with all Family Child Care Home Providers; secures non-federal share match.
 
Pays $62,400/yr

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, orientate, and ensure quality and compliance via monitoring tools to EHS Family Child Care Home Providers. Schedule announced and unannounced visits to the EHS Family Child Care Home Providers.
  • Provide supervision, training, and direction for Early Head Start staff to ensure compliance with program guidelines and guarantee the safety and security of program participants and associate.
  • Manage and maintain confidential files of Early Head Start children and families, and ensure education screenings and assessments are conducted within required timelines. Maintain provider and children’s records in accordance with Community Care Licensing (CCL) Title 22 regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.                 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

  • BA degree or higher in early childhood development, child development or special education preferred. Possession of a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or higher in compliance with Title 5 or 24 units ECE/CD including core courses (Child Growth &Development, Child/Family/Community, Infant/Toddler and Programs/curriculum). Must meet ongoing educational requirements to qualify for child development permit/CDA requirements.
  • Ability to properly interpret and implement regulations, policies and procedures of Head Start Performance Standard, policies and procedures, the California Department of Education, Funding Terms and Conditions (Title 5), Child Development Division, the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing program regulations (Title 22), and the policies and procedures of Easter Seals Southern California, Inc.
  • Open and close facility; conduct ratio audits and supervise staff in Site Director’s absence. Assist in the classroom to ensure ratio when needed.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood family services; experience working with diverse families of very young children; ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups; must relate well to children and their families.
  • Pass FBI, Department of Justice and criminal background check.
  • Present a clear TB test and pass a pre-employment physical
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other related computer software.
  • Exercise sound judgment, plan, establish and meet timelines.
  • Possess up-to-date pediatric (infant/toddler) CPR, first aid and food handler certificate.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift 40 lbs continuously. Ability to reach, bend, stoop and squat. Possess fine manual dexterity, can push, pull, talk/hear, with near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.  
  • Training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with families of very young children; must develop knowledge of parent involvement, cooperative family goal setting, supporting families through change.
