Information Governance Compliance Intern

The Information Governance Compliance (IGC) Intern will assist with various records and information governance department tasks that include the organization and sorting of loose files, file organization, physical file management (shelving organization, shifting, etc.), coordinating files for storage, and using LegalKEY to check in and check out files. The IGC Intern may also coordinate movement of records between offices and support other tasks in the department as may be assigned.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •       Loose filing is associated with the appropriate client matter, sorted and filed into their respective files.
  •       Index and organize pleadings.
  •       Prepare files for offsite storage.
  •       Retrieve, deliver, sort and refile active and inactive files.
  •       Reviewing files and conducting pick-out activities.
  •       Index files, print labels and assemble files.
  •       Assisting with Matter Mobility and Retention & Disposition projects.
  •       Research as may be requested.
  •       Ensure inbound physical records are inventoried in the records management system.
  •       Handling customer requests that come into the department.
  •       Filing of document material.
  •       Checking-in (scanning), quality checking and shelving of returned files to the department
  •       Checking shelves for inactive files that can be warehoused.
  •       Updating, processing and warehousing of large cases or numerous files scheduled to go to offsite storage.
  •       Shifting of numerous files for available shelf space for other more active files or needed shelf space for tight areas.
  •       Updating of large amounts pending document material retained by costumers.


Qualifications:

  •     Bachelor’s Degree in progress
  •     Prior general clerical experience recommended
  •     Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint with competent keyboarding skills.
  •     Experience with SharePoint and CRM a plus
  •     Strong attention to detail
  •     Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, strong customer service-orientation and organization skills
  •     Must be a self-starter and work well independently
  •     Ability to maintain an acceptable caseload, thrive in a team environment and interact with other employees
  •     Must have good time management skills
