Human Resources Internship (Fall Recruitment)

Responsibilities and Qualifications

This is a year-round internship. The ideal candidate is someone who can commit to work throughout the year – part-time up to 15-20 hours in the Spring/Fall and full-time 40 hours in the Summer.

PURPOSE:
The Human Resources Operations Intern will sit within our HR Connect team that supports the entire organization. You will have the unique opportunity to learn how to respond to general associate inquiries about human resources programs, procedures, and policies. You will serve as the initial point of contact for HR inquiries for the workforce (Tier 1 support). Assist functional teams daily to ensure all customer requests are handled in a timely and confidential manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Learn to respond to general intake inquiries from employees and manages the process necessary to bring to resolution in a timely manner.

  • Assist with maintaining information systems and processes necessary paperwork. i.e. severance, telework etc.

  • Work to update support documentation used by HR/Shared Services/Employees ensuring relevance and current content.

  • Review and gather feedback continuously on how to improve HR processes, sharing with HR Sharedservices team members.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of company-specific policies and practices.

  • Act as a liaison with functional areas within Human Resources; ensuring understanding of processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Must be a rising Senior working towards an Undergraduate Degree in an accredited college or university.

Experience: Undergraduate student targeting majors in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; GPA: 3.0 or above.

Required Abilities/Skills
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and independently
  • Educational exposure and interest in multiple human resource disciplines including, but not limited to compensation, benefits, employee relations, immigration, performance management, federal and state employment laws
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong acumen to dealing with systems, data, and reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position. Occasional walking or standing is required. The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects. The associate must frequently talk and hear. Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
