Career Pathways Navigator - Nursing Assistant Training Program - at CAPI USA

JOB SUMMARY: This position is part of our CAPI team and supports low-income individuals to obtain credentialed/certificate training leading to great jobs in the high-demand Healthcare field in the Nursing Assistant training program. The Navigator works directly with the community to recruit, assess, orientate and enroll individuals into CAPI’s DEED P2P City of Minneapolis and Minneapolis Pathways Nursing Assistant training program. The Career Pathways Navigator conducts regular outreaches in the Community to recruit training participants, and client assessments develops vocational/career plans, and administer coordinated case-management services. In addition, the Career Pathways Navigator promotes the SNAP E&T program and once enrolled in SNAP, enrolls eligible persons into CAPI’s SNAP Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program.

WAGES AND BENEFITS: $21.00 - $21.50 per hour; medical insurance, including generous employer contributions to a Health Savings Account; dental and vision insurance; participation in the agency-sponsored retirement plan with a 3% match; employer-paid life insurance; short- and long-term disability insurance; generous paid time off, plus 10 employer paid holidays and 1 floating holiday per year.

SCHEDULE: The majority of this position is conducted 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday; however, there may be some light evening and weekends. This position works on a hybrid schedule of three days working from the office and two days working from home.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Enrollment & Enrollment
  • Collaborate with the Career Pathways service team and all CAPI staff to recruit and orient people annually.
  • Conduct community outreach regularly and participate in CAPI’s community events/tabling that might happen 2-3 times a month during weekends or evenings to promote program services.
  • Conduct/coordinate with CAPI ABE training providers an initial assessment to assess skills/abilities/attributes to determine appropriateness and eligibility for credentialed cohort training opportunities.
  • Enroll Career Pathways and other eligible, interested participants into the agency’s data management systems; make referrals to other CAPI Programs as appropriate (i.e., Financial Services, Home Ownership, Food Shelf, etc.).
  • Work closely with the MOC AmeriCorps member to serve and support Career Pathways Participants.
  • With oversight of the Career Pathways Manager, provides day-to-day work direction and support to MOC members.
Case Management, Training, & Employment Placement Services
  • Based on assessment and after securing all eligibility paperwork, work with each client to develop an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) that outlines agreed upon goals and strategies that lead to job and training placements.
  • Work with the service team to build employer relationships and identify employment opportunities for clients.
  • Monitor client progress through regularly scheduled face-to-face meetings and through phone conversations, providing encouragement, support and coaching throughout the process.
  • Regularly communicates with and serves as the primary liaison with ABE instructional staff and training partners to place and support clients in education and training programs that ideally lead to credential acquisition.
  • Ensures client files meet DEED and other funders’ auditing standards.
  • Encourage and refer clients to take advantage of other CAPI services (i.e., Financial Services, Home Buying, Food Shelf, etc.).
SNAP Program Referral & Enrollment
  • Promote the benefits of the SNAP E&T program with all potentially eligible Career Pathways Participants.
  • Assess, screen, and refer interested participants to the SNAP E&T program.
  • Enroll interested persons who are on SNAP into CAPI’s SNAP Employment and Training program.
  • Provide ongoing case management, monthly case note updates, and support services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
  • 2-year degree plus 2 years of related experience, or 4+ years of related experience may be considered.
  • Two years of related workforce development experience preferred; preferably with diverse communities and low-income populations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of various workforce development programs and local provider organizations.
  • Effective assessment and evaluation skills.
  • Bi-lingual preferred though not required.
  • Knowledge of the barriers participants encounter in searching for, obtaining, and retaining employment and training.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with diverse populations, diverse staff, employers, post- secondary institutions, ABE providers and others.
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently with minimum supervision.
  • Effective communication skills - both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Skilled in facilitating groups/trainings.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet CAPI’s driving record requirements.

COVID protocols: CAPI USA requires employees to be vaccinated as a condition of employment, subject to reasonable accommodation required by law.
