Associate Buyer-Aerospace

Summary:  
The Associate Buyer is responsible for material and supply purchases, ensuring that the right items are purchased from the right suppliers, at the right time, at the right price. The responsibilities also include developing commodity strategies resulting in a benefit the company, as well as, to the supplier.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures
  • Works to minimize inventory levels, yet, ensuring enough stock to support production
  • Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history
  • Works with suppliers to get quotes, as needed
  • Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts
  • Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions
  • Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records
  • Identifies suppliers and commodities for strategic evaluation
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of engineering change processes, and related documentation as it pertains to procurement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills
  • Team player that brings an inspiring, infectious attitude 
  • Ability to think critically and see the whole picture
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, or related software
  • Experience in category management
  • Experience with sheet metal parts, printed circuit boards and technical aspects, preferred
Education/Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or other relevant degree program required
  • Previous background and experience in Buying, Planning, and Inventory Management a plus
  • Experience in Operations or Warehouse Management is a plus
  • 4+ year previous experience in a Planning role preferred
  • Experience with Syteline or similar ERP system preferred
