Intern, Strategy

POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this job is to support the internal consulting work of the Corporate Strategy team. This position is responsible for assisting in the cross-functional work that builds organizational and analytical processes to deliver key findings, and to shape and execute business plans. Various types of market analysis, competitive analysis, internal financial and operational analysis, modeling, and scenario planning – both collaboratively and independently, as needed – are fundamental to the role.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Strategic Planning

  • Contribute to assessing strategic opportunities and challenges for the corporation and its business units, emphasizing collaboration with colleagues in any affected business units
  • Assist in development of business plans that foster new opportunities for growth and optimization across various business units
  • Participate in the creation and delivery of presentations to communicate strategic insights, propose initiatives, track progress updates, and articulate project/program results to internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Responsible for completing work streams within designated projects

Analysis
  • Synthesize data from various (and sometimes conflicting) sources to form cogent opinions and build institutional knowledge
  • Perform complex analyses that draw conclusions and identify recommendations for new or existing opportunities
  • Collaborate with counterparts in Global Sourcing, Sales & Marketing, Business Development, Finance & Investment Banking, among other corporate units to ensure alignment and best practice
  • Build and maintain processes that enhance the Corporate Strategy efforts over time

Other relevant responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a collaborative, creative, results-oriented work environment across departments
  • Communicate effectively with others to ensure alignment with company objectives and the utilization of optimal resources

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and self-motivation to problem solve

  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently, as needed, but voice challenges as they arise to ensure expedience
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of personnel throughout the organization, including in presentation format

  • Demonstrate attention to detail and organizational skills

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: In process of completing 4-year bachelor’s degree or master’s degree
Experience Preferred: 1-2 years of prior internship experience preferred

Skills Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated math, economics, finance, and/or accounting skills
Strong analytical research and data synthesis
Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel skills, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Bonus Experience:
An understanding of renewables, chemicals, agricultural and energy landscape, and the dynamics of the integrated industries is beneficial but not required
