We are looking for full time paid interns across our Internal Audit, Accounting, and Tax Accounting departments for Summer 2023. Interns must be available to work on-site in Rochester, NY between May 30, 2023 and Aug 18, 2023.

Internal Audit
A summer intern will be responsible for assisting with audit internal financial controls and procedures to assist management in its assessment of the effectiveness of the company's internal controls over financial reporting, as mandated by Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Additionally, the intern will work on special audits and projects as requested by the Audit Committee and Management.
  • Understand company policies and procedures and audit for compliance
  • Coordinate with regional management to obtain documentation needed to complete audit test work
  • Document audit test work results accurately and concisely
  • Organize and retain adequate documentation to support audit conclusions so that it can be reviewed by the company's external auditors
  • Determine causes of audit exceptions and work with Financial Controls Manager to remediate
  • Special projects, as required.

Accounting
A summer intern will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
  • General ledger responsibility for assigned entities, including timely closing on a monthly basis and producing all required management reports
  • Performing detailed trial balance preparation, analysis and reconciliation
  • Analyzing and reconciling accounts
  • Assisting with preparation of financial statements
  • Preparing and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records
  • Compliance with internal controls
  • Preparation for and participation in internal and external audits
  • Communication with other departments and regional personnel, including first line regional financial contact and support for assigned regions
  • Performance of other accounting duties, as required


Tax Accounting
A summer intern will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the tax department, including compliance and financial reporting.
  • Compliance - prepare various federal, state and other miscellaneous tax returns on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Accounting and Reporting - assist in preparation of tax provisions and effective rates (monthly, quarterly and year-end)
  • Understand and improve upon current processes and documentation
  • Research - analyze domestic tax issues, including state and local tax questions, and various other related issues
  • Assist in special projects to identify, research and analyze tax issues and planning opportunities, including due diligence reviews on potential acquisitions

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels and continue to maintain a high level of objectivity and independence
