Summer 2023 Intern - Building Management/Building Operations
The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all owned and leased facilities in the Federal Reserve Board (FRB) portfolio. The primary mission of Building Management is to ensure a clean, comfortable, and safe work environment for all FRB staff and visitors.
The intern will assist Building Managers in gathering requirements and developing processes to support successful day-to-day operations of FRB facilities, participate and lead inspections in the identification and remediation of deficiencies related to building and life safety codes, use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to enter and export data, provide world class customer service, and support project management.
Position Requirements
Suggested Major/Minor: Facilities Management, Business Management, Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Basic/Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to interact and display tact and diplomacy at all levels within the Board staff.
- Strong organization and time management skills
Preferred Skills:
- Interest in the care and operations of commercial buildings
- An interest in understanding how mechanical, electrical and control systems work together to deliver a building environment
- Place high priority on customer service
- Ability to work in a diverse environment
- Ability to analyze and think critically
- Self-motivated and ability to develop creative solutions.
Notes:
- This internship cannot be completed virtually; the role requires onsite presence in Washington, DC.
- US citizenship is required for all Board internships; applicants must be current students, graduating from their program Fall 2023 or later.
