Basic Purpose

The Branch Operations Business Optimization & Projects team was founded in 2013 and works closely with all areas of Branch Operations and all other business units to generate and implement improvements to Branch team members' and members' daily lives. Our mission is to work strategically with all teams to improve processes for branch team members and team leaders with a focus on the branch of the future. We want to work together with all business units to build a culture of continuous process improvement that will result in an overall exceptional member experience. 

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern role includes but is not limited to: 

Analyze, determine, coordinate, and implement continuous process improvements (CPI) to achieve end-to-end business optimization of moderately complex business processes and systems. Research internal processes and capabilities to improve Return on Investment (ROI), enhance the effectiveness of the business and/or services and react effectively to business needs with moderate latitude for discretion. Provide guidance and advice to management on the most efficient use of resources to obtain positive and measurable results. Perform moderately complex process improvement functions under supervision.

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention of this program is to hire graduate interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023 or later.
 
Responsibilities

•   Utilize business process reengineering (BPR) techniques, model business processes, and conduct data analysis to examine end-to-end business processes to improve efficiency and operations 
•   Obtain and analyze quantitative and qualitative data of business processes to determine solutions and promote data driven decisions 
•   Research and evaluate opportunities related to process flow variance deficiencies 
•   Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure correct recording of actual labor
•   Analyze processes and workflows to understand value chain, input/output, to improve and/or automate business performance 
•   Provide guidance and advice to management on the most effective and efficient use of resources to obtain measurable process improvements 
•   Leverage best practices gained through process improvement activities to other activities which would benefit from implementation 
•   Analyze, define, and document technical design for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating systems environment, interface with other systems, internal and external controls and output
•   Ensure the implementation of new and enhanced processes

Qualifications

•   Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or other related degree
•   Lean Six Sigma certification (L-6S) or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
•   Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP) or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
•   Working knowledge of process mapping/modeling and business process reengineering
•   Experience in leading teams in business process improvement initiatives
•   Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
•   Effective skill in project management to include establishing and leading project teams; 
managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $41.00 - $46.00 hourly
