Basic Purpose

DevOps Tool Integration & Administration is a team within the Service Transition branch of Navy Federal’s Information Services Department (ISD). The Service Transition branch focuses upon the processes that comprise the Service Transition stage of the ITIL Service Lifecyle. We ensure that changes to IT services are appropriately managed, from the initial strategy, through design, development, testing and deployment. The DevOps Tool Integration & Administration team’s primary responsibility is to automate end-to-end application delivery solutions, manage the deployment of release packages, effectively, successfully and on schedule. The team supports the tools for Version Control, Application Build, and Release Automation. 

The team fulfills its responsibility introducing Deployment and Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery (CICD) related processes, policies, and procedures. In addition, team members are assigned and participate on projects, assisting teams in the establishment of repositories and defining of the CICD pipelines. 

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention of this program is to hire graduate interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023 or later.
 
Responsibilities
 
•   Responsible for the set-up, maintenance and ongoing development of current software lifecycle/pipeline processes for distributed applications hosted on WebSphere, Unix, Windows and Container platforms with goal to transition to have fully automated build, test and deployment processes (CI/CD) across on-premises or cloud environments. 
•   Write build and deployment scripts.
•   Ability to conduct highly complex work with little to no supervision, and extensive latitude for independent judgment. 
•   Contribute to the team and organization and have skills to mentor junior staff and other IT personnel within the organization.

Qualifications

•   Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or other related degree

Business Soft Skills:

•   Excellent communication skills
•   Self-starter / self-directed 
•   Understanding of general Information Technology concepts
•   Demonstrates sound technical skills
•   Strong in problem-solving, conceptual thinking and analytical capabilities

Technical Skills Preferred (as many of the following):

•   5+ years’ experience in Information Technology 
•   Experience in installing, configuring, upgrading, and migrating specific servers, applications, and hardware, etc.
•   For Distributed applications, working knowledge of the following tools and languages: Source Code Management such as GitHub and Release Automation Tools such as UrbanCode Deploy. Building CICD such as Docker, Maven, Ant, Python and Shell Scripting. Artifact Repository Management tool such as Artifactory or Nexus Repository Manager.
•   Experience in Azure Cloud computing services
•   Experience with IT Service Manager Systems such as ServiceNow
•   Experience with Operating Systems such as Linux/Unix Command Line; Deployment Tool: IBM Rational Application Developer and Eclipse
•   Experience with Databases such as DB2, Oracle and My SQL
•   Understanding of systems architecture (Distributed and Mainframe)
•   Understanding of ITIL and other control frameworks

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $41.00 - $46.00 hourly
