Basic Purpose

The Information Service Department (ISD) Corporate Systems and Enterprise Shared Services Finance Domain Team provides innovative, state of the art financial system tools and solutions to automate financial business processes. The team provides full lifecycle application services for creating, designing, and managing financial applications to help Finance Business stakeholders make informed financial decisions about the fiscal and budgetary information they manage. In partnership with the Finance Business, the Finance Domain Team supports Corporate Accounting, Financial Operations, Finance Strategy and Relations, and Treasury organizations within Navy Federal Credit Union.

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern will work in a flexible hybrid or fully remote manner and report to leadership at our Vienna, VA campus. Responsibilities will include delivering technical work in support of the development of applications, tools, platforms and services. This Summer Associate will need to operate within established methodologies, procedures, and guidelines and apply knowledge of principles and techniques to solve technical problems. Work involves understanding the customer’s business challenges, particularly in the area of Finance, and coming up with solutions to solve the problem with enhanced features and process flows while including advanced technology components and working with system implementors and vendors.

Potential projects that the Summer Associate will be involved with:

•   Transformation of PeopleSoft Financials to Oracle ERP Cloud
•   Development of an Application Integration Platform
•   Transformation of QRM to the Cloud
•   Implementation of Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Modules such as Account Reconciliation and Narrative Reporting
•   Implementation of MuleSoft APIs for Check 
•   Finance Records Information Management Compliance
•   Implementation of Check Fraud Mitigation through AI tools

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention of this program is to hire graduate interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023 or later.

Responsibilities

•   Be part of a team that works with the development and integration of Finance product technologies with respect to application/enterprise capabilities and software for multiple on-going projects, collaborating closely with enterprise and solution architects, aligning to most current strategies.
•   Conduct systems analysis, design, development, integration, enhancement, and deployment as well as application support for various applications
•   Manage the deployment of new modules, upgrades and fixes
•   Define, develop or modify software application modules or enterprise-wide software systems using disciplined development processes
•   Implement integration plans and interface with testing teams to incorporate plans into the integration testing process
•   Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement information technology that aligns with business needs and meets objectives
•   Use holistic knowledge of all products in the information technology ecosystem to plan how new systems will be built and integrated
•   Install, maintain, and perform configuration of infrastructure applications
•   Review solutions to ensure alignment with customer objectives, organization guidelines/benchmarks
and industry best practices
•   Identify potential problems in design, quality, or operation and initiate corrective action
•   Identify opportunities to effectively mitigate risk and improve performance and functionality 

Qualifications

•   Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or other related degree
•   Technical development skills and thorough understanding of the systems development lifecycle, including software design, development, testing, and support of web applications
•   Some experience with private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc.) 
•   Some experience with Agile software development practices including SaFE, Scrum, JIRA, Peer Review, Git and CI/CD 
•   Knowledge of discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories, and methods to identify and solve the highest complex problems and perform sophisticated analyses 
•   Knowledge and understanding of the end-to-end IT process, including architecture, design & engineering, implementation, and operations 
•   Troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root causes of issues and provide solutions 
•   Demonstrated ability to solve complex system/integration problems through innovative solutions 
•   Advanced problem solving, collaboration, critical thinking, team building, and presentation skills 
•   Advanced skill applying innovative approaches to solve technical design issues 
•   Knowledge of integration tools and APIs

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $41.00 - $46.00 hourly
