Basic Purpose

IT Disaster Recovery Management's (ITDRM) mission is to facilitate continued Information Services Department (ISD) technical operations in support of Navy Federal Credit Union’s overall mission to the membership by coordinating the development, maintenance and testing of effective and efficient technical recovery solutions that minimize the impact of disaster events.

The Summer Associate Graduate Intern Program is a 10+ week graduate internship program beginning in May 2023 and ending in August 2023. The intention of this program is to hire graduate interns who prove their aptitude into full time roles following graduation. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a graduate or PhD level degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2023 or later.

Responsibilities 

Learn and understand the fundamentals controls of Disaster Recovery planning, testing and response coordination to meeting Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) directives.

12-week plan:

1.   Review current ISD Command & Control Plan and identify proposed improvements 
2.   Work with senior manager to identify options
3.   Propose changes to improve the deliverable 
4.   Define roadmap (to implementation) for approved changes
5.   Report back on the outcome, with proposed next steps
6.   As time permits assist in the next steps planning and implementation activities
7.   Present deliverables to executive leadership 

Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of Information Technology (IT) Experience and exposure to IT disaster recovery/business continuity practices

•   Currently pursuing a graduate degree or higher in Information Technology, Information Systems, or other related field

Business Soft Skills:

•   Excellent communication and presentation skills
•   Superior technical writing abilities 
•   Self-starter/self-directed 
•   Understanding of general Information Technology/Disaster Recovery/Cyber Response concepts
•   Experience with business process definition and optimization 
•   Strong analytical skills with experience creating reports and analyses 
•   High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office

Technical Skills Preferred (as many of the following):

•   Proficient in the Fusion Risk Management tool or equivalent disaster recovery/business continuity planning software 
•   Exposure to “on-premises”, cloud and hybrid IT environments 
•   Experience with business process management 
•   Experience with Infrastructure Management and Operations Management
•   Understanding of systems architecture (Distributed and Mainframe)
•   Understanding of ITIL and other control frameworks
•   Understanding of and experience with ServiceNow 
•   Understanding of Waterfall/Agile/DevOps 
•   Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) approaches
•   Understanding of technology backup concepts and practices
•   Understand of crisis/emergency notification software usage 

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $41.00 - $46.00 hourly
