Undergrad Project Management Intern - Bioanalytical Laboratory

Location: Bioanalytical Laboratory 

Role Summary: 

PPD, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently recruiting for our 2023 Summer Internship Program at our Bioanalytical Laboratory. The Program requires full-time hours (40 hours per week) for 12 weeks starting in mid May 2023, through mid August 2023. If a student is not local to the Richmond, VA area, The interns will be responsible for finding temporary housing. 

As a Project Management Intern, you will be responsible for the maintenance and closure activities for identified protocols and/or study programs. Completing SOPs and consulting on project management issues and supports overall function of the Project Management group. 

Pay: $18.00/hr 

Desired Degrees: Business Admin, Project Management, Biology, Chemistry, and other Life Sciences 
 
Responsibilities: 

  • Complete NEOP (New employee orientation program) and department specific training.  
  • Advises project managers on procedural and budgetary items and the necessity for change due to any subsequent study modifications and/or protocol amendments. 
  • Assist with all data management and project management-related activities, including all aspects necessary for a successful setup, conduct and closeout of assigned studies 
  • Attend in-person/virtual professional development workshops and networking events. 
  • Review standard administrative procedures and complete LMS (Learning management system) training modules.  
  • Complete PLP (prepared learning plan) created by supervisor.  
  • Complete department specific final project and present findings to peers and leaders.  
  • Handle daily administrative tasks assigned by superiors. 
  • Reviews data to ensure accuracy.  
  • Other tasks under the direction of the PPD supervisor or mentor.

Job Qualification


 Education and Experience: 

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program as a rising senior pursuing a life science degree.  
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively 
  • Good English and grammar skills 
  • Good computer skills, proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
