2023 Internship - Tactical Intelligence Systems

If you are pursing a degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar we'd love to have you join our team!
We are seeking enthusiastic problem-solvers to help us to help us tackle the complex research, engineering, and analytical problems that present critical challenges to our nation. Our group is currently making critical contributions in, developing the first truly autonomous UAV, advancing research in computer vision and reasoning systems. We apply artificial intelligence (AI), reasoning, machine learning (ML) operations, data science, systems engineering, and more to solve urgent tactical problems. We support sponsors in defense, homeland security, and health care, conducting research to address critical challenges.
 
As a member of our team you will...
  • Work with dedicated team members charged with developing and delivering solutions that support national priorities
  • Work within a team environment and apply your skills to projects and tasks in areas such as Machine Perception, Intelligent Systems, Reasoning for Autonomy, Software Engineering, ML Operations, and Data Science

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
  • Are pursing a Bachelor's, Master's of PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Have maintained a minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.
  • Are able to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • AI / ML techniques (building/training deep learning models, parameter tuning, PyTorch/Tensoflow, ect.)
  • Code management (Git workflow, Agile development, JIRA, Docker, ect.)
  • State estimation (Kalman filtering, data association)
  • UNIX / Linux CLI
  • Game Engine Development
