Employee Relations Intern

Performs administrative staff work in support of research and review projects focusing on Hospital policies and procedures and department operations.

The internship would be with the Advice and Counsel Center (ACC) within the Employee Relations department of Human Resources. The ACC is responsible for managing all employee relations issues that have the potential to lead to disciplinary action for our workforce of 77,000 team members. The ACC will provide advice to managers on the appropriate discipline, if any, and help draft disciplinary action forms.
 
Additionally, the ACC will investigate all allegations of discrimination and harassment and work with our legal team to draft a report and recommend appropriate action. The intern will work closely with the team doing intake of the cases and assigning those cases to members of the ACC. Additionally, the intern will shadow the team members on cases to learn what the appropriate advice is. Where appropriate, we will ask the intern to take part in investigations.
 
Responsibilities
  1. Participates in the collection and preparation of data relative to the work of the department. 
  2. Assists in studies to objectively ascertain the efficiency, economy and effectiveness of department of Hospital operations, policies and procedures.
  3. Assists management in facilitating new programs and/or procedures.

Schedule and Location
Monday-Friday: 37.5 hours/per week. Remote
Duration: January 2023 – May/June 2023
 
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Undergrad Junior; Undergrad Senior; Graduate Level
  • Currently enrolled in college majoring in Human Resource Management, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, required.
  • Prior administrative experience in a hospital setting, preferred.
