The Security and Mission Assurance Strategic Capabilities Unit provides discriminating support to the business to ensure success. We focus on threat identification, risk assessment, and mitigation while improving the efficiency of the business through effective governance and analysis of process, data and overall business knowledge.
 
The Ball Aerospace Internship Program is a 10-week summer program that provides interns with practical experience working on relevant projects while working with designated mentors; access to state-of-the-art equipment; a competitive wage; relocation reimbursement; in-house training; group activities; possible future employment and the ability to participate in the Ball Aerospace Remote Sensing Team (BIRST) program to build and launch a rocket or high-altitude balloon. At the conclusion of the internship, interns will be required to prepare and deliver a formal presentation of their project work to their respective department. 
 
Technical Intern – Business Operations
 
The Security and Mission Assurance (SMA) Operations Group is a multidisciplinary team with responsibilities ranging from strategy development and resource management to process improvement and implementation. We are seeking a Business Operations Intern to be a critical part of the team supporting various projects that will enhance success across the SMA organization and Ball Aerospace as a whole.
 
What You’ll Do:
 
  • Support projects of varying complexity through leveraging various knowledge, skills, and abilities to include: data analysis, problem solving, and project management methodologies.
  • Participate as member of a team on various topics including new and existing enterprise-level projects, capital procurements, and knowledge management tools.
  • Work collaboratively with SMA leaders to improve and manage existing tools and processes
  • Support the development of progression of organizational initiatives to include liaising with initiative owners and business leaders on status and completion.
  • Identify and propose metrics to measure change implementation and adoption
  • Apply knowledge of current business operations principles to advance organizational objectives.
  • Learn the art of consulting with business units, process owners, engineers, and other subject matter experts to understand business needs & provide analysis recommendations and/or results.
  • Recognize indicators of risk in projects and develop mitigation strategies with project leads
  • Mine various data sources to include stakeholder feedback to determine process or tool effectiveness.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
 
What You’ll Need:
 
  • Must have completed your sophomore or junior year and be enrolled in a degree program for the fall of 2023. We will also accept students enrolled in a graduate degree program.
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Management, Operations, Business or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with process improvement and communications preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively and build relationships with business leaders as well as cross-functional teams across the business.
  • Ability to work independently and self-direct.
 
Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits:
 
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $20.20 - $28.75 per hour (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
