Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis

JOB SUMMARY:
 
Sycamores provides a spectrum of equitable mental health services through various programs to multicultural populations of all acuities. Although it serves a variety of consumers, the agency focuses primarily on providing care to low-income, high at- risk youth.
 
The Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (PP&A) will play a critical role within the Financial Planning & Analysis team. This position will deliver accurate and efficient budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, while supporting continuous process improvement. The FP&A team is responsible for budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis & financial reporting, operational analytics, capital expenditure analysis, and critical financial reports and analyses presented Sycamores’ executive leadership team. This role demands a vigor for problem solving, strong analytical ability, attention to detail, proficient finance skills, and most importantly, innate intellectual curiosity.
 
 
STARTING PAY RANGE:
 
$80,000 - $90,000 per year for Full-Time employment (starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.)
 
 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the budget/financial forecast process in partnership with business leaders to deliver results aligned with strategic objectives
  • Evaluate financial performance of the organization regarding operational strategic goals, budgets, and forecasts
  • Collaborate with senior management to set Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to identify opportunities and mitigate risk
  • Conduct analysis and build reports on key business drivers, trends, and performance indicators to provide value-added inputs to aid in go-forward business strategy
  • Play a major role in the ongoing financial forecasting process and generate analysis and reporting that guides senior leadership on the state of the organization
  • Research detailed financial models and other analyses to facilitate decision making
  • Analyze financial and non-financial data to draw conclusions and make recommendations to management
  • Prepare financial models for new business opportunities, as required
  • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with internal leadership and key stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or another highly analytical/quantitative discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and/or budgeting in complex business environments (healthcare, behavioral health, nonprofit or government contracting)
  • Experience working with government-funded contracts; LA County Department of Mental Health (DMH) and/or Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical and financial modeling experience
  • Business systems power user with a high skill level in managing financial dataflows and databases
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI strongly preferred
  • Netsmart Avatar, Blackbaud Financial Edge, and Questica PowerPlan preferred
  • Effective project management skills; highly organized, independent, and self-motivated
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the aptitude to communicate with all levels of management
