Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

Portland, OR- temporarily remote 
Due to the pandemic, this position is temporarily working remotely. Hours are flexible, as long as the needs of the community and clients are met

Job Summary: 
Our Infant & Early Childhood team is seeking a Mental Health Consultant (IECMHC) to work in a team project.
The IECMHC provides a broad range of mental health prevention services in a collaborative environment including infant/early childhood consultation, staff and parent training, and other mental health prevention and referral services to identified children and their families.

Our Early Childhood Program is focused on prevention services, to serve children, families and early care and education providers in the community. We use shared decision making in a unified program to create a supportive environment for our clients, our community, and our staff.
 
Program: Early Childhood Consultation
Child and Family Consultation is a service that screens children and consults with parents, early childhood care and education staff, and other providers about plans to support individual children. Program-Level Consultation supports early childhood care and education staff to build capacity to support children’s social and emotional skills. This includes providing staff training and development, regarding general early childhood social, emotional, and behavioral issues, and support for managing early behavioral challenges in preschool children. Program-Level Consultation also provides teacher assessments and coaching, using evidence-based models to build early care and education staff’s capacity to improve classroom practices.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Actively engage child-care and home visiting programs, identity program-specific consultation needs and problem-solve barriers to collaboration. 
  • Facilitate trainings on topics of Trauma Informed Workplace Wellness, EC-PBIS Modules/Coaching for early care staff, and Reflective Supervision/Consultation. 
  • Provide early childhood mental health consultation services to selected childcare and home visiting program administrators, supervisors and direct service staff.
  • Provide ongoing consultation to child-care and home visiting program staff regarding early brain development and social/emotional wellness, Trauma-Informed Strategies for Workplace Wellness, EC-PBIS Modules/Coaching and Reflective Practice.
 
Education and Work Experience:
  • Master’s level degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field, required
  • Meets QMHP requirement under State of Oregon Office of Mental Health and Addiction Service’s Administrative rules
 
Valued Experience: 
  • Knowledge and experience with establishing collaboration with community partners and providing mental health skills in a community context. 
  • Positive Behavior Supports (PBIS) training preferred, if not then commitment to become trained within 3 months. 
  • Knowledge of the developmental needs of children birth to 5 years old
  • Bilingual in Spanish, both written and spoken
 
Other Requirements: 
• Pass a DHS criminal history background 
• Personal transportation allowing for timely travel within the Portland metropolitan area.
 
Starting Pay Range: 
$27.07- $28.56
Bilingual in Spanish: $29.51- $31.13
Higher Pay-Scale for Licensed individuals!!!
