Job Summary:
This position supervises a team of Childcare Workers for Morrison’s Infant & Early Childhood Program parenting education groups and provides administrative support to the program. The Infant & Early Childhood Program offers group childcare for children (typically ranging in age from 0-8) while parents/caregivers attend parent education programs. The person in this position is responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, and on-site coaching/mentoring of Childcare Workers, as well as development of childcare programming and general program and administrative support. Part-time, year-round position (32-40 hours/week); some evening work hours required.

About the Program:
Our Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program provides prevention services, including Child and Family Consultation and Program-Level Consultation, in Multnomah County and the City of Portland. We serve young (birth to 5 years of age) children, their families, and early care and education staff in early childhood settings that include: Head Start, Early Head Start, childcare centers, and family home childcare providers.
The program supports early childhood care and education staff to build capacity to support children’s social and emotional skills. This includes providing staff training and development, regarding general early childhood social, emotional, and behavioral issues, and support for managing early behavioral challenges in preschool children. We also provide teacher assessments and coaching, using evidence-based models to build early care and education staff’s capacity to improve classroom practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, hire, coach, and train a team of Childcare Workers.
  • Mentor childcare staff through on-site observation and participation in childcare.
  • Develop an orientation packet for new child care workers.
  • Organize and assign childcare to staff childcare at parent groups.
  • Develop/organize childcare programming, including structured activities for children 0-8, whose parents are attending groups
  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for Childcare Workers.

Education and Work Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
1. Two years’ experience working with children and families, preferably in a childcare setting and/or comparable experience organizing events.
2. Knowledge of the developmental needs of children, birth to eight years old.

Other Requirements:
• Provides emergency first-aid, as needed, and maintains a current infant/child first-aid/CPR certification.
• Must pass DHS criminal history check.
Travel to other community locations is required

Starting Pay Range:
Childcare Supervisor $17.50- $18.62
Bilingual (Spanish) Childcare Supervisor: $19.08- $20.30
