Youth Care Specialist - Counterpoint Day Treatment

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:30 am- 4:30 pm
 
JOB SUMMARY:
The Youth Care Specialist works with teen-age boys in a day treatment program that is known for its quality care and innovative practices. This position is part of a dynamic staffing team which includes proctor care staff, therapists and teachers. This position provides skills building, facilitates groups, therapeutic outings and is actively involved in daily activities. The program incorporated family, works with probation and parole officers while helping youth successfully transition to the community
 
The program began in 1983 and has a long history of providing quality care for at-risk youth who have experienced trauma and abuse. These historical factors have resulted in a variety of problematic behaviors including sexual acting out, depression, and other mental health concerns. All youth screened and placed in the program have been assessed as appropriate for a community setting
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Active involvement in skills building for youth
  • Supports clients in reaching identified goals through groups, milieu and 1:1 time
  • Supervises clients during milieu and activities
  • Participates in team meetings
  • Works with youth on understanding their progress and goals in the program
  • Completes, timely and accurately, clinical documentation, timesheets and other personnel/administrative records as required.
Education and Work Experience: 
A typical background for the person who can fulfill the duties of this position is as follows:
  • 2 years of experience working with youth
  • Bachelor’s degree in social service field
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and experience with youth may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
 
Other Requirements
  • Pass a DHS criminal history background 
  • Position may involve driving for work purposes. 
Schedule:
Monday- Friday 8:30 am- 4:30 pm, may require occasional Saturdays pre-planned in advance. 
 
Starting Pay Range:
Youth Care Specialist:$18.53- $19.72
Bilingual (Spanish): $19.00-$20.21
