Refugee Services Assistant Director at CAPI USA

This position will lead the strategy and development of the newly established Refugee Services Department, which includes Afghan Career Coaching, Afghan Housing Stability, and additional programs as the department grows. The Assistant Director will monitor and coordinate the federally funded Afghan Career Coaching program, supervise Refugee Services leadership, and partner with the CAPI Senior Leadership team to build a strong staff that fosters an environment of collaboration that is focused on achieving CAPI’s mission and core strategies. This position requires a individual who is strongly self-driven and has the desire and vision to see the department develop and grow.

SCHEDULE: The majority of this position is conducted 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday; however, there may be some light evening and weekends. CAPI is currently operating with a hybrid work schedule of 4 days in the office and 1 day work from home.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Refugee Services Program Direction
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of CAPI Refugee Services programs, including but not limited to Afghan Career Coaching and Afghan Housing Stability.
  • Develop and manage numerous partnerships/collaborative relationships to expand and enhance programming and program outcome achievement.
  • Fulfill contract requirements, ensuring regular auditing/monitoring for programs as well as any program sub-grantees.
  • Work with the Data and Evaluation Analyst and Senior Leadership team to evaluate program outcomes, measure success, and expand programming.
  • Establish and monitor program/service standards, policies and procedures that ensure high quality services.
  • Pursue funding opportunities to support the growth and enhancement of the unit.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate the new Afghan Career Coaching program.
Funding Oversight
  • Work with the Basic Needs Director to develop annual operating budgets and ensure funding is secured annually.
  • Build relationships with donors (i.e., foundations, corporations, individuals) and contractors to sustain, expand, and diversify funding streams.
  • Facilitate contract/grant management meetings with appropriate staff upon securing new grants.
  • Conduct monthly budget and billing reviews with relevant partners to ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Schedule and participate in site visits with funders.
Supervision and Civic Engagement
  • Manage direct reports, including overseeing performance and training, managing the hiring and termination processes, and handling employee relations.
  • Support CAPI’s agency-wide civic engagement values and initiatives and incorporate civic engagement into ongoing work as required of all agency staff.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in non-profit fundraising and management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of foundation and government funding sources.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish clear goals, expectations, and protocols for organizational fund development and management.
  • Knowledge and experience in project design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge and experience in grant writing and budget development
  • Skilled in group processes and facilitation of effective meetings.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with people of many cultures, nationalities, and groups.
  • Ability to use MS Office products, internet, and program databases.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet CAPI’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state and working remotely).

COVID protocols: CAPI USA requires employees to be vaccinated as a condition of employment, subject to reasonable accommodation required by law.
