Our Claims professionals support AIG policyholders through some of the most trying times. AIG manages claims using a wealth of technical and market knowledge about risks, business practices, and the ever-evolving legal and regulatory environment.

About the role
AIG’s summer interns are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, global insurance company. You will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge during the 10-week program. As a summer intern you will work side-by-side with industry leaders on dynamic projects, with ample opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement.

After initial orientation and training, summer interns will join one of our business lines, which offer a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse and global environment. In addition to the experience acquired on the job, summer interns have the opportunity to hear directly from senior management, and participate in webinars, discussion forums and networking receptions.

Upon finishing the internship, you may be considered for a full-time analyst role beginning summer of 2024.

Your Contribution at AIG can include:

  • Working alongside underwriters, actuaries, and adjusters to help the business assess risks, set prices, investigate and settle claims.
  • Provide support to data and operations to analyze key metrics that balance the need for customer excellence.
  • Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with key business stakeholders to fulfill projects and programs.
  • Aligning with different teams, lawyers, and HR regarding policy issues.
  • Ongoing monitoring of respective claims and consistently responding to client inquiries to maintain and acquire business relationships.
  • Ensuring appropriateness of claims payments, adequate reserving, and reduction of claim costs.
  • Maintaining best practices to promote consistency throughout claims and the business.

Potential disciplines include (but not limited to):
  • Claims Adjusting and Examining (Casualty, Workers Comp., Financial Lines, etc.)
  • Claims Administration and Analytics
  • Fraud and Recovery
  • Claims Account Relationship
  • Claims Operations


What we’re looking for:
AIG seeks candidates who have excelled in previous work experience, demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry. 

We also look for a diverse background of experience, culture and thought. Successful candidates typically have a global perspective and a team-oriented track record.

Required:
•     Minimum 3.2 grade point average (unofficial transcript required upon application).
•     Candidate for Bachelor's or Master's degree to be received no later than June 2024.

Locations
Early Career Insurance Summer Intern positions are available nationwide.
The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 - $45.00.
