Clinical Development Business Insight Analyst Internship Overview

The Clinical Development Business Insights Analyst Intern will function as a key partner with leadership and cross-functional teams across R&D to proactively review and identify data trends to drive business value and actionable insights. The role will support a Business Insights Lead to monitor these trends and identify underlying leading / lagging performance indicators to create solutions that solve business problems and deliver significant measurable impact. This role will work across the Clinical Trial Management Ecosystem (CTME) team and the Vision team to continuously enhance the existing ecosystem, driving cross-functional alignment with R&D business functions and with Business Technology Solutions (BTS). The Intern will interact frequently with Sr. Leadership and cross-functional management to influence key decisions that impact AbbVie’s ecosystem. The Intern will also lead critical cross-functional initiatives that will enable the transformation of Clinical Development Operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with leadership to proactively identify and review trending analytics to drive action steps, while leading cross-functional teams
- Communicate context, insights and objective analysis to R&D leaders to support decision making
- With input from relevant stakeholders, maintain and evolve existing processes for gathering, summarizing, and distributing relevant industry benchmarks / trends relevant to AbbVie’s pipeline
- Partner with the Data Science & Analytics team to develop reporting and new ways to measure trends to monitor Tier 1 and 2 KPIs, as well as leading / lagging indictors
- Provide strategic direction across system owners, ensuring integrity of the data and the systems used to support AbbVie’s clinical trials
- Anticipate emerging technology / methodology needs that can support the utilization of our data to produce efficiencies and create new value propositions.
- Present key findings and insights at leadership meetings and follow up with additional analysis as required, anticipating / identifying issues that could affect timelines or quality and develops options and solutions
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, MBA or PhD in Business or STEM field
- Must be enrolled in university during the internship period
