Mental Health Crisis Nurse

ABOUT VENTURA COUNTY CRISIS SERVICES
Seneca's Ventura County Crisis Services program offers a spectrum of behavioral health care crisis services to support youth and their families. These services provide safe refuge for young people who have experienced profound mental health needs including psychiatric evaluation or hospitalization. Services include crisis stabilization and short-term acute residential treatment, as well as transition and planning services to return youth to a setting in the community with stability.
 
YOUR ROLE
As the Crisis Nurse you will be responsible for implementing and evaluating the nursing care services delivered in the program. You will utilize the nursing process to provide assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of resident care within designated clinical areas while meeting all regulatory documentation standards. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the multidisciplinary team, QA and UR activities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for quality clinical care on assigned shift
  • Evaluates own practice and maintains consistent standards of care
  • Collects and analyzes assessment data to formulate resident care problems, individualized outcomes, plans, implements and evaluates nursing interventions
  • Provides all care required to be given by a RN on shift assigned. Meets all regulatory and facility documentation standards
  • Protects the dignity and rights of residents
  • Provides culturally competent standards
  • Collaborates with Psychiatrist to ensure quality of medication administration, adequate consents, medical treatment and follow-up
  • Collaborates with management team to ensure health and safety, infection control, resource utilization, and clinical and rehabilitative standards of care
  • Participates in nursing department, staff meetings and other facility activities
  • Carries out functions and responsibilities as it pertains to giving orders and conducting evaluations of clients in restraint/seclusion as per Seneca Center Crisis Intervention Policy Section 8

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor Degree (in Nursing or related field) or
  • Associates Degree in Nursing
  • Experience in pediatrics, mental health or crisis nursing a plus!
  • Active CA Registered Nurse License
  • CPR – BLS
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid California driver's license and insurability with Seneca's automobile policy
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster required
Preferred:
  • Bilingual Spanish/English abilities a plus
  • Psychiatric nursing experience
  • Experience working with adolescents
  • Detail oriented


Schedule

  • Thursday: 7am- 7pm
  • Friday: 7am- 7pm
  • Saturday: 7pm- 7am(Sun)
Please note: There is an additional 24-hour on-call commitment on Tuesdays from 7am to 7am on Wednesday
