Administrative and Communications Support

The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full-time contractor position; Administrative and Communications Support with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. 

Salary: $23.37 per hour.

Travel: Overnight travel will not be required.

Required Skills:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, and Outlook;
  • Experience with Lotus Notes or other database program;
  • Experience in administration support functions (recordkeeping, filing, etc) and managing records (electronic and hardcopy) or databases;
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, including demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments with competing deadlines, for more than one staff member in a fast-paced environment; and
  •  Strong communication skills (i.e., written, oral, electronic, telephone etiquette, presentation abilities).

Qualifications                    
  • Be at least 18 years of age and
  • Have earned at least a bachelor’s degree in biology or health science field from an accredited university or college within the last 24 months and
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America or a Legal Permanent Resident.

EPA ORD employees, their spouses, and children are not eligible to participate in this program.

What the EPA project is about
The Office of Resource Management is the premier provider of administrative services that enable and support research within the EPA’s Office of Research and Development (ORD). It is composed of five divisions with responsibility for extramural programs, budget execution, travel and human resources. This opportunity is located within the Research Support and Compliance Divisoin (RSCD). RSCD supports ORD by providing leadership, management, oversight, and support for the operations of SHEM, ORD’s major physical assets programs in the areas of Space Management, Facilities Management and Support, Building & Facilities (B&F) resource/funds management, Capital Equipment implementation and installation support, specialized research equipment design and fabrication, accountable property inventory, Fleet Management, and research compliance programs across ORD in accordance with Federal and state regulations and EPA and ORD policies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent bachelor’s graduate to collaborate with EPA’s research team. Research experience includes:

  • Providing support to staff as needed in computer and information management to improve workflow, access of information and communications ;
  • Assist in communicating, scheduling, and following-up on training classes and requirements with the research staff;
  • Providing general administrative support; and
  • Networking and exploring many career paths at EPA.
