Applied Genetics and Line Purity Intern

To support that challenge, the North America Applied Genetics Science (AGS) team is currently looking for a Applied Genetics and Line Purity Intern, in Slater Illinois to join our cross-functional group of Applied Genetic Scientists, Data Scientists, and Software Developers to help us digitize, automate, and optimize the systems that delivers elite germplasm to the market

Job Description

 

As our intern, you will learn about our processes and interact with scientists, developers, and engineers to support the creation of an end-to-end digital platform for AGS, by speeding up decision making and creating efficiencies through data management. You will become a key member of the team that is leading the development of a fully integrated and highly automated global digital solution, to accelerate the delivery of high- quality elite trait conversions to the business.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Enrollment in a M.S. or Ph.D. program in data science, software development, computer engineering, or similar; OR
  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in data science/engineering/computer software, or similar. Current Junior or Senior standing and proven experience is preferred
  • Must be a current student at a university and continuing education upon completion of internship term
  • Knowledge of and experience with programming languages, such as R, C#, Python, Power BI, Power Automate
  • Knowledge of and experience with relational databases (SQLITE, Access), Excel (advanced), Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and macros
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to communicate clearly

  • Experience with large data sets
  • Familiarity with plant biology and/or plant breeding Experience with front-end software development/engineering Familiarity with Agile systems
