Internship in Occupational Health and Safety

At Safex, no two days are the same, but here’s some of what you can expect during your internship:

  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative respirator fit testing
  • Maintaining and calibrating IH equipment
  • Maintaining appropriate air sampling instruments for full-shift, task-based, and grab samples
  • Conducting and documenting chemical inventories
  • Understanding effects of the physical properties of substances
  • Recognizing the relationship between temperature and pressure on exposures
  • Assist with exposure sampling involving routine monitoring methods for physical, chemical, and biological agents.
  • Interpret labels and SDSs and communicate the hazards to workers
  • Assist with indoor air quality assessments
  • Prepare written programs to meet individual regulatory standards and customer needs
  • Accurately prepare written project reports and customer correspondence
  • Conduct simple construction safety inspections

 

Qualifications

· Second year college student or recent graduate (2 years or less)

· Excellent written communication skills

· Strong intrapersonal communication skills

· Microsoft Office proficiency
