I was the only intern in my office, so it would have been nice to have another college student there with me. The office was pretty young for the most part, but I still felt the pressure from being the only intern.

Software Engineering Intern

What I liked

Box was an incredible experience. I got to pick my own project, develop independently with the advice of senior engineers, and ended up creating a project I was really proud of. Also, it's a medium-sized company so the community factor is there. Also, the return offers they give to interns are some of the most competitive for a full-time position.

What I wish was different

Box is not the easiest to commute to from SF. I wanted to live in the city during the summer but that meant an hour-long commute on the CalTrain and BART. Some fellow interns lived in Redwood City but they didn't experience as much on the weekend.

Advice

If you get an internship at Box I would choose it. The enviornment is great and the oppurtunity for growth is there.

What I liked

I liked the work cultures of the company. Everyone was willing to help and give me assitance with my project while also allowing me the independence of taking ownership of my own project over the summer. Additionally, the project that I was working on during my summer was one that was important to my team/the product, and would be shipped into production.
