Mr. Cooper Group

HR Communications Intern

May - August 2019 • Coppell, TX

What I liked

I enjoyed the engaging and friendly atmosphere of Mr. Cooper! I loved the community of interns at Mr. Cooper and all of the intern events that we had every Friday where we would go bowling, volunteer, or have executive speakers. I also liked being a part of the Talent Acquisition team and getting to contribute to their work, but also having my own project to work on.

Business Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Santa Ana, CA

What I liked

The management team was great, and they were all willing to teach me something.

What I wish was different

I wish I would've negotiated with them so I didn't spend all my summer working there.

Advice

I never imagined myself working for a mortgage company, but this experience opened myself up to being willing to try new industries. I recommend people to go out and explore, even fields they don't think they'll like - you just never know what you'll end up learning.

Business Systems Analyst Intern

May - August 2019 • Coppell, TX

What I liked

Mr. Cooper's internship program is designed in such a way that interns have fun and learn at the same time. There were intern events every Friday and the events were fun-filled and informational. But most importantly, employees at Mr. Cooper enjoy working in teams, help each other grow professionally and personally and share a common goal of providing the best possible services to the customers.

System Engineer Intern

May 2019 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

The whole experience was great. Everyone was very good about helping me learn about every part of the company. I loved that I was able to move to a team that I showed interest in and was able to get an extension to learn and help this team.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I don't wish anything was different. I learned so much about the business itself and I learned a lot about myself. The whole experience has been great.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions about anything. If you feel like you would do better or if you are just interested in another team, speak up, ask to shadow. Everyone there will try to help you get to where you want to be.

Technical Writer Intern

May - August 2019 • Coppell, TX

What I liked

The friendly and supportive environment, being able to do real projects relevant to our degrees, and the fun intern events.

What I wish was different

My training took longer than my fellow interns, but that was because I went on vacation and I simply took longer to learn the material.

Advice

Network as much as you can, ask if you can use your mentor as a reference for future jobs, and ask if you can use what you worked on as portfolio pieces.

What I liked

1. Company culture. Challenger, Champion and Cheerleader. 2. Friendly coworkers. They helped me a lot. 3. Intern events. There are some intern events such as team building, volunteering, final presentations and so on. Mr. Cooper cares a lot about interns. 4. Learned a lot about SQL and model risk management

What I wish was different

1. Dress code. Mr. Cooper's dress code is business casual. And I have thought it will be really formal.
