Renewable Energy Group

Process Engineer Intern

May - August 2022 • DeForest, WI

What I liked

I really enjoyed my project (each intern gets a major "capstone" project for the summer that they work on). The support for interns was really amazing.

What I wish was different

My supervisor was busy a lot. Not everyone's experience there

Advice

Get connected with as many people as possible and ask questions

What I liked

I really like the people that worked there.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to do it at the office but covid had other plans. Still was an awesome experience.

Advice

Be okay with change and unpredictable things happening. Just roll with what is thrown at you.

Digital Media Intern

May - August 2019 • Ames, IA

What I liked

I liked that it was near Des Moines, and the company was outstanding. REG is working towards building a sustainable future, and the people there are absolutely great. They're a midwest-based company and continuing to grow at a rapid rate.

What I wish was different

Being in Des Moines would have been cool but I wouldn't have changed anything about the internship itself.

Advice

Network! Make sure you spend your lunches and down time asking people about their job and seeing all the different areas of the company. An internship is one of the best ways to figure out what you do and don't like, so don't be afraid to ask to shadow for a day and try out different areas of a company.

What I liked

I had the opportunity to present my summer project to the senior leadership board.

What I wish was different

Like any internship, there are slow times.

Advice

Take notes about everything, you will need to refer back to them at some point.
