Marketing & Communications Intern
June 2023 • Westfield, MA
What I liked
I enjoyed so many parts of this internship so far, but some of the most valuable things I learned was how to market and design for an engineering firm. It is a lot different than anything I had ever done in school and past internships, and everyone was extremely helpful along the way; I got such a well-rounded experience that was personalized to meet my goals. I also appreciate staff's efforts to making interns feel welcome and making sure we got the best experience possible.

Advice
Don't be afraid! No one here is out to get you, it's okay to ask questions and to be a little out of your comfort zone. As a graphic design student, designing and marketing for an engineering firm was hard! I had no prior knowledge AT ALL but everyone was extremely helpful and answered so many of my questions.

Environmental Intern
June - August 2022 • Westfield, MA
What I liked
I appreciated the friendly and welcoming nature of all employees - everyone was willing to help with tasks and answer questions. I valued everything I have learned including federal and state regulations, drafting permits, outreach/communication skills, and the field work (site sweeps, wetland delineations, etc.). This opportunity allowed me to see my education being applied to real-world settings.
What I wish was different
Perhaps connecting with other interns and networking with them.
Advice
Do not be afraid to ask questions or for clarifications - there will be a bit of new material you may not have experienced before.

Land Use
June - July 2023 • Westfield, MA
What I liked
I really enjoyed everyone on staff. My supervisor and buddy were incredibly helpful and encouraging me to ask questions while also answering my questions.

Advice
One piece of advice I would recommend would be to ask to learn different topics. For example, if you want to learn about structural engineering, don't wait to be put on a project. Reach out to your supervisor as they will be more than happy to help you experience that different field.
