GIS Technician
March 2019 • Richmond, VA
What I liked
The company has a diverse portfolio, meaning that the assignments are always different. They could mean that you are in the office 9-5, or that you are posted out-of-state for a whole month! The work environment is outstanding, the work is interesting and diverse, and the company events are always fun!
What I wish was different
There isn't a whole lot that could have made it better or worse, the entire experience has been very rewarding and exciting.
Advice
Pick the companies/firms/agencies/groups that align with the kind of work that you want to do and the job won't feel like a job anymore - it's a part of your life and what you do.

Civil Engineering Intern
June - August 2020 • Ashburn, VA
What I liked
The internship was both in person and online so I got to experience what work would be like for both scenarios. The other employees were very kind and helpful. The environment was welcoming and comfortable too.
What I wish was different
I wish I had gotten more experience working in the field. I got to visit job sites a few times, but not very often. In addition, I wish there had been more opportunities to meet the employees outside of work. However, I believe the pandemic played a large role in preventing these two things from happening.
Advice
Try your best always and ask all questions you have. People are very willing and happy to help you.
