Part Time to Full Time Position
Straight Night Shift 1830-0700 OR Day/Night rotation available
Every 3rd weekend
Holiday Rotation
Sign on Bonus: up to $10k bonus with 2 year commitment, experience required
- Acquires knowledge of and monitors patient’s condition
- Utilizes nursing process by obtaining information, applying critical thinking and evaluation
- Assists the provider in establishing a plan of treatment for the patient
- Assumes responsibility for carrying out the plan of treatment/provider orders
- Provides direct nursing care (including neonate to adult)
- Provides holistic nursing care
- Participates in provider rounds
- Observes, records, reports any changes in signs, symptoms, conditions of the patient
- Applies effective communication skills with medical staff, hospital personnel, patients and families
- Identifies and communicates patient needs to ancillary services
- Assists the provider in performing procedures
- Assists in preparing the patient for tests, performing therapeutics
- Communicates provider orders and order changes to the appropriate personnel
- Keeps all patient records accurate and up to date
- Provides patient and family teaching/education
- Write, update and individualize care plans
- Assists with performance of infection control and quality management functions
- Participates in shift report activities
- Communicates admission status and changes in such to the appropriate personnel
- Communicates staffing needs, facilitates staffing
- Assists with the orientation of new employees
- Acquires knowledge of medications and drugs being used
- Reviews and interprets diagnostic data
- Continues professional development by participating in in-service and continuing education activities
- Assists in supervising CNAs and LPNs
- Assures completion of work orders and requisitions
- Communicates needs for equipment repairs or service
- Assists in monitoring narcotic medications
- Keeps work area clean and organized
- Provides care to patients during transport in hospital and to other facilities
- Assists department members
- RNs may be required to float into other nursing care areas, as census and/or activity needs are identified, for example, Critical Care, OB, and Med-Surg/ICU. When floating into other areas, the RN will be under the direct supervision of the House Supervisor, in the absence of Department Manager, and expected to perform functional duties as identified, including assessment, documentation and care of the patient
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current license to practice in state of Iowa
- Critical Care and Telemetry experience preferred
- CPR and ACLS required
