Job Summary:

The College of Engineering is seeking an hourly Academic Wage: Oregon Research & Teaching Security Operations Center (ORTSOC ) Infrastructure Specialist. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, fixed-term position. This position is anticipated to last approximately 2 weeks.

This position works with the ORTSOC Security Engineering Team to prepare the instructional environment for both our student cohorts and our outreach to ORTSOC Consortium Members. The position supports this environment for delivery via web interface to ORTSOC student workstations. Position works closely with academic faculty to implement instructional design considerations.

Key Responsibilities

60% Works closely with the ORTSOC Security Engineering team to design and implement software programs and physical infrastructure to enable and support the ORTSOC instructional environment. Work collaboratively with the team to ensure an environment that is safe, respectful and inclusive.

30% Tests the effectiveness of program improvements through conducting network security monitoring and related activities, reporting back to the ORTSOC Security Architect/Engineer on the status.

10% Participates in team meetings, assists with tool deployment, and other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

• Experience using the Elastic Search/ELK Stack. Familiarity with Web programming.

• Demonstrated ability to work productively and cooperatively in teams, and to contribute to an inclusive team culture where all individuals feel valued and respected.

What We Would Like You to Have

One year of experience in a cybersecurity related position.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

Typical office environment; occasional evening or weekend hours, and travel to client sites to assist in installing NSM hardware/software.
