Engineer - Substation Engineering Relay & Protection (13232)
Overview
Provides regulatory compliance support and engineering technical support for all aspects of the protection system related to transmission systems.
This position can be located in Louisville or Lexington, KY based on the candidate's preference.
The position will be filled based on the successful candidates experience and background: Engineer I, II, III or Principal.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and track compliance related activities associated with applicable North American Electric Reliability (NERC) Operation and Planning (O&P) regulatory standards.
- Develop necessary Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets both annually and as necessary for audits both external and internal.
- Conduct annual training on applicable NERC Standards
- Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in NERC audits and other company functions.
- Assist in the creation and update of policies, procedures, and processes to ensure reliability standards are met.
- Conducts self-certification for Protection and Controls (PRC) standards
- Monitors and ensures change management procedures are being followed.
- Develops internal controls.
- Audits internal controls.
- Acts as liaison with Corporate Compliance Department.
- Performs print review to ensure all equipment is flagged appropriately in Cascade.
- Performs P&C design work as assigned.
- Participate in industry groups as necessary.
- Other regulatory compliance activities as assigned.
- Perform a variety of routine tasks that will improve the individual’s familiarization with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company’s transmission planning & substations organization.
Qualifications
Education Requirements
ABET Accredited degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Three to ten years transmission substation protection and/or relay settings experience preferred.
Educational background and coursework in power systems preferred.
