Transportation Engineering Technician Trainee - Kanawha County

The Transportation Engineering Technician Trainee in this position will report to the Cement and Concrete Section of the Materials Control, Soils & Testing Division. Serves in a training capacity, learning basic concepts of highway and bridge construction and maintenance. Work will involve using various West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) software programs, or databases and maintaining inspection, and testing records for concrete accepted by the Division. The employee will assist with the following: calibration of laboratory equipment; maintaining the testing capabilities of the cement and concrete laboratory; performing bridge deck inspections; and collecting cement samples for testing. Will also assist as a monitor for the Portland Cement Concrete Inspector practical exam and will help with the duties in other areas of the cement and concrete section as needed. The incumbent participates in a training program requiring 180 Technician Development Hours. Performs other related duties as required. 

Minimum Requirements

REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION 
• High school graduation or equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 
• No prior experience is required. This is the entry level classification in this series.
