Time commitment: Minimum 3 hr / week, preferably more.
Term: Flexible, 12-16 weeks min.

About DAWN:
DAWN is a dynamic non-profit organization committed to preserving Ukraine’s cultural heritage while delivering essential medical aid to those on the front lines of Russia’s invasion.
Position Summary:
As a Fact-Checking & Anti-Disinformation Intern, you will begin by assisting the Ukraine Fact Check team in indexing & tagging articles from across the internet, to be featured in the UFC searchable database. Once the current backlog has been processed, you will have the option to expand your focus to: writing original fact checking articles, compiling educational materials on disinfo and media literacy, and helping us prepare original lesson plans for public release under an open source license.
This position is ideal for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in: research, journalism, team coordination.
Responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to select ONE OR MORE of the following:
- Conducting open-source research and indexing findings
- Assisting with toolkits, guides, and other educational materials intended for publication
- Preparing curriculums and lesson plans to for a range of audiences on the topic of disinfo and media literacy
- Helping us adapt some of the content above for social media posts
Mandatory: Attending a check-in video call once a week. Scheduling of these calls can be very flexible to suit your needs. This position is also suitable for people working odd hours.
Desired qualifications:
- Passion for facts, history, and journalistic integrity
- Precision and reliability - strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Familiarity with tools like Google Sheets, Docs, and Drive
- Familiarity with basic journalistic/academic standards and ethics (advantage)
